Realtors beware! Flipping houses is the new craze in self-employment.
The latest craze in homeownership is taking the nation by storm and earning people a lot of money along the way. Flipping houses is becoming more and more popular. This could be either good news or bad news for realtors across the country. Individuals will buy homes at tax sales for pennies on the dollar. They will buy homes at a discounted price when the homeowner is getting divorced or is deceased. The purchaser of the home will then remodel the home, making it more up to date and appealing. Once the home is finished, it goes up for sale once again - usually for tens or hundreds of thousands more than what it was just purchased for. The process takes very little time - months even weeks. This may be good news to realtors since the number of homes on the market are increasing. But it may be bad news for realtors in some cases. Often, these individuals do not employ the services of a realtor. They advertise in local newspapers and on local classified sites. This eliminates the need for a realtor. With so many of these homes being offered for sale, the realty business may suffer.
